Dear Friends in Christ,
This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which brings the church’s celebration of Christmas to a close. I found Christmas this year particularly comforting as it offered a spiritual refuge from the incessant rain that has been drenching us for what seems to be forever. Here’s to our faith, which invites us to seek the Lord for refuge from the storms, be they spiritual or literal.
On behalf of Fr. Duc and myself, I want to thank all those in our family of NE Seattle Catholic parishes who generously volunteered their time and talent to make our Advent/Christmas season so beautiful this year. Thanks to those in our music ministry, our liturgical ministers, and the people who put in extra time to make our church environments appropriate to this sacred season. Thanks to those who will help take down our Christmas decorations. A big thanks to those who work with our children in their Christmas pageants and those who helped with our Children’s choirs. Thanks as well to those who made our initial Sunday at 5:00 pm Mass such a success. As always, I am especially grateful to our staff for their support in all these efforts. Their ministry to us is a blessing.
A final thanks to all of you who participated in the Christmas liturgies and who welcomed the large crowds that graced our parishes. Please extend to your family and friends who may only attend Mass on rare occasions that they are always welcome to join us any time. As we journey into the beginning of 2026, let’s stay united in our worship of God, our proclamation of the gospel of Jesus, and our care for each other and the poor in our communities.
