Pope Francis invited all the baptized around the world to journey together in a global listening process called, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.” This global consultation process will provide guidance for the Church to discern “the signs of the times and interpret them in the light of the Gospel” (GS,4).
Our profound thanks to the over 100 parishioners who shared honestly and listened respectfully during these sessions. One of the main themes we heard from our Synod participants was for more transparency in the church. Many of our participants expressed concern about whether we would report what we heard in our listening sessions and if our reports would actually be sent to the Archdiocese of Seattle and on to the Vatican. We hear you. In an effort to be as transparent as possible, please see the two reports sent to the Seattle Archdiocese; a one-page summary report and the other, a full 14-page report.

This is just the beginning. St. Bridget’s is committed to continuing the conversation on how we may implement what we heard at our synod sessions. Our parish is working on a long-range strategic plan. The synod feedback and your participation will be a part of the foundation for that plan. We expect to organize other listening groups in the summer and fall to ensure we continue to collect your input.
Meanwhile, there are several opportunities to get engaged with the Church and our local St. Bridget’s community. We encourage anyone who is interested to reach out to one of these groups and the respective leader for more information on how you can participate.
