Dear Friends in Christ,
There is a chant that rings out in many churches that goes like this: God is good….all the time. All the time…. God is good! That acclamation rings true here at St. Bridget’s for the following blessings.
Our “Boots and Bling” Auction on April 28th was a huge success with about 250 people sharing a fun and enjoyable evening. The weather was perfect and led to many staying for the after-party to learn line dancing. Just as importantly, we raised approximately 145K to support the mission of our parish. Special thanks go to our co-chairs Amanda Cahill, Jen Holm, and Yvonne Werner, with generous support from Susie Lane, Carleigh Johnson, Sara Wietholter, Molly Corr, and many others. Thanks to everyone who helped including all who made a financial gift to support the auction. God is good…all the time. All the time…God is good!
A vitally important way we show our gratitude for God’s goodness is in the worship of the Mass every Sunday. This past week you received the first weekly email with a brief video by Bishop Robert Barron taking us deeper into the meaning and purpose of various parts of the Mass. I will be available after Mass on select weekends in May to continue the discussion to address people’s questions and suggestions about our celebration of Mass here at St. Bridget’s.
This Saturday, May 6th, we welcome 39 children from our parish who receive their first holy communion. Last Sunday I had the opportunity to speak with them and their parents and felt the tangible excitement on the part of the children as they prepared to receive the body of Christ for the first time. I reminded them what I have said to similar groups for 42 years: The only thing more important than your first holy communion, is your second, third, fourth, and in my case 30,000th holy communion. Congratulations to our children on this special moment in their lives!
It's true. “God is good…all the time. All the time…God is good!” Let’s share that divine goodness everywhere we go!
