Today, May 25, Pope Leo XIV will release his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas (Magnificent Humanity), which is one of the highest forms of Church teaching. His letter, which will be released with Christopher Olah, the co-founder of artificial intelligence company Anthropic, addresses the reality of the human person in the context of today’s dominating reality of artificial intelligence.
Our St. Bridget Nursery provides a safe, welcoming space for children ages 3 months to 4 years old during the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. Whether you are a walker or a hiker, we have some events for you. Our Heavenly Hikers group visited both the Washington Arboretum and the Japanese Garden to stretch our legs and enjoy the spring colors and flowers. This was mostly a slow saunter - stopping to soak in spring sunshine.

Assumption parishioner Mary Fontana has written a new book, Strangers in the Province of Joy: Practicing Radical Hospitality on the US-Mexico Border. Join Mary for a book event at the University Bookstore on Saturday, June 6, at 4 pm. She will talk about the book, which tells the story of Annunciation House, a Catholic house of hospitality in El Paso, Texas, that has housed over half a million migrants and refugees. The event is free and open to the public.
