As the Pastor of St. Bridget Church, I have had the privilege of serving in this role for five fulfilling years, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth within St. Bridget’s.
My journey began in St. Luke’s parish in Shoreline, where I attended the parish school. Subsequently, I embarked on my educational path in the local seminary system, earning a BA in Humanities and Philosophy during my high school and college years. My theological studies led me to the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley CA, where I obtained an M.Div in 1981. Later, I expanded my expertise with a master's in counseling from Seattle University.
The inspiration for my involvement in ministry and service traces back to my early fascination with the Eucharist. Ordained in 1981, I have served as a parish priest, hospital chaplain, and school Campus Minister, nurturing a special love for Catholic Schools.
Active engagement with the St. Bridget community extends beyond my role. Living in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, I frequently encounter parish members in local stores, coffee shops, and neighborhood strolls. The strong sense of community within the parish resonates with me.
Navigating the challenges posed by the COVID shutdown required adaptability, and we successfully embraced creative solutions through the Internet and social media. I am particularly grateful for our parish's deep involvement with ASB school, a testament to our resilience and commitment.
Outside of my role at the church, my large family holds immense importance, with caring for my living mother as a top priority. Balancing personal life with church commitments is achieved through a fairly disciplined prayer life.
Fr. William Heric is not just a Pastor but a dedicated community member, educator, and advocate for the values that enrich the St. Bridget Church family. Join us in celebrating our shared journey of faith and service under his guidance.
