Dear Friends in Christ, The Epiphany of the Lord we celebrate this weekend reminds us that our faith in Christ is meant to inspire us to share his love and compassion with all peoples of the world. How can average folks like us do that in a global community so diverse and often divided in our time? Discernment Day with the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia will host a discernment retreat day on Saturday, January 31st (10 am-4:30 pm). Open to single Catholic women ages 17-30, the event includes Mass, prayer with the sisters, Adoration, spiritual talks, and lunch at the University of Washington Catholic Newman Center. At St. Bridget Parish on January 22, at 7 PM, there will be a screening of a documentary about The IF Project, a collaboration of currently- and formerly-incarcerated adults, community partners, and law enforcement focused on holistic intervention and the reduction and prevention of incarceration and recidivism. CYO Sports are open to all students who are parishioners, where they attend one of our catholic schools or a non-Catholic school. Our Lady of the Lake (Lions): 5- 8th boy and girl teams. 4th grade co-ed learning league. St. Catherines (Tigers): 5- 8th boy and girl teams. 4th grade co-ed learning league Assumption St. Bridget School (Bulldogs): 5- 8th boy and girl teams. No 4th grade co-ed learning league. (Students are welcome to join OLL) Based on registration numbers, schools sometimes combine to formulate teams. If the interest is large at a school, then there will be multiple teams per grade. The middle school teams might be divided between varsity and junior varsity after an assessment. All students who register will be placed on a team. One that grabs mine is the “Giving Tree” in the narthex of each of our churches. This is an important reminder that this season is not primarily about what we get for Christmas, but about what we give to the many people in our community who need our love and care.
